Lady ATX Magazine

Lady ATX Magazine is an Austin-based online magazine by Austin women for Austin women. Not only am I the social media manager for Lady ATX, but I am also part of the six person editorial team. My writing focuses on wellness, relationships, and living. I wanted my Lady ATX articles to differ from the ones I publish on my own blog. See my author page.

The perfect playlist can boost your productivity big time, no matter what you’re doing. Whether you make it yourself or use one someone else has made, a good playlist can have a real impact on your workout. Studies show the right playlist makes you work out harder and longer. If you’re having trouble finding the right mix, never fear, we’ve got you covered. Maria Menounos says it’s important to have certain playlists just for working out so you don’t get tired of them and I couldn’t agree more. I don’t want to get into writing mode while I’m on the elliptical Here are some of our favorite playlists to get you pumped up to burn those calories. READ MORE…

Wellness Must-Read: The Everygirl’s Guide to Diet and Fitness Screen Shot 2016-06-05 at 7.44.43 PM

About 2 months ago I bought Maria Menounos’s cook book, The Everygirl’s Guide to Cooking (highly recommend). I enjoyed the book so much, I immediately bought her other two, The Everygirl’s Guide to Life andThe Everygirl’s Guide to Diet and Fitness. With one chapter left in her diet and fitness book, I am officially declaring it a must-read.

Menounos’s book really does speak to the everygirl. She gives tips, tricks, and information on how to transform your diet and fitness regime to be healthier even if you don’t have the money or time to do so. She preaches the 50 year plan: taking care of your body so that in 50 years it is still healthy, fit, and showing up all the other biddies at the nursing home (my words, not hers). READ MORE…

Dry Brushing: What It Is and Why You Should Be Doing It brush-96238_1920

A few months ago I bought a spa package at Viva Day Spa that included a dry brush treatment (loved it). Ever since then, I have been hearing about dry brushing left and right. I decided to chat with Viva Day Spa manager, Michelle Connor to get the low down on what dry brushing actually is and what it can do for me. READ MORE…

A Moment with MaxieScreen Shot 2016-04-21 at 3.15.39 PM Maxie-94 (1)

One of the great things about writing for Lady ATX is the opportunities it has given me. I’ve gotten to meet some amazingly creative ladies, go to some awesome events, and really explore myself and my inspiration. In that spirit, I started a conversation with my favorite blogger, Maxie McCoy. Maxie is a blogger from here in the Lone Star state who is all about finding your inspiration and following your passion. Over the last year or so, her words and stories have inspired me so much. Through Lady ATX, I had the privilege to interview her. Here’s a little of what she had to say about herself and what every woman should know. READ MORE…

How to NOT SXSW

Screen Shot 2016-04-21 at 3.08.29 PM

South By Southwest had officially arrived and taken over our fair city. I, for one, will definitely be participating in some awesome SXSW events. This is only my second year as an Austinite so everything is fresh and new. However, to long time residents, South By can be more of a burden than an exciting experience. You may be planning to hole up in your house for the next two weeks to avoid all the madness, but don’t feel caged in, there are plenty of fun, productive things you can do in and outside your home without getting caught up in SX Fever. READ MORE…

Katherine-05

With Valentine’s Day in full swing, love and dating are likely to be on your mind. It seems like the Austin dating scene has been overrun by apps. There is essentially an app or dating site for any and everyone looking for love, and we all know Austin loves apps. In fact one of the first “Women-first” dating apps, Bumble was started right here in Austin by one of Tinder’s co-founders.

Online dating may still seem a little taboo but between 2005 and 2012, 35% of married people met their spouses online according to a University of Chicago Study. With a pretty even male to female population of young, educated singles, it’s no wonder Austin ranks high on most “best cities for singles” lists. It ranks #2 on Marie Claire’s list of best cities for single women (yay us!). So how do you make the most of this dating pool online? You optimize your profile. We’ve done the research to help you showcase your best self online! READ MORE…

Design Lessons from the TRIBEZA Interiors Tour

Digital-Life

A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to get tickets to the TRIBEZA Interiors Tour. The tour showcased seven beautiful homes decorated by local interior designers. They spanned all across the city so I was able to get a taste of Eastside Charm and West Lake Sophistication in one afternoon. As an HGTV addict, I took away some great design lessons that we could all implement into our homes. READ MORE…

DIY Halloween Costume Ideas

When you’re a little kid, no outfit has more thought put into it than your Halloween costume. You spend weeks deciding what you want to be. Once your costume is bought or made you sometimes doubt your decision but once you hit the streets to trick or treat, you own that character.

As we’ve gotten older, that excitement has changed. We consider more factors than just what we want to be like where we’re going practicality, and, of course, what we look good in. Unfortunately, many of the costumes in stores are a little to risque for post-collegiate life. Instead of spending a ton of money on a costume everyone else will be wearing, make one for yourself with clothes you have and a few extra pieces from a Halloween store or your favorite thrift store.
