In the past, I have spotlighted brands who are doing well on social media as well as a brand I have a major crush on. A brand that has recently caught my attention on Twitter is the 14-1 Carolina Panthers. Their social media team is fire 🔥.
Game and Team Coverage
During the games, the Panthers social team tweets updates about the scores + stats. They also share gifs + memes that relate to the game or how Panthers fans might be feeling. This is one of the places the brand really shows their fun side and engage with their fans.
Like any sports team, the Panther’s have clothing + other branded materials they sell to their fans. They + their players promote these items on Twitter. They also cross promote with other platforms like Pinterest. The Panthers have corporate sponsors like Papa John’s + Auto Bell who they promote for as well.
Another thing the team is good about doing is promoting their players for awards/competitions. Tight End, Greg Olsen, is currently trying to win $20,000 for charity based on hashtag usage. The Panthers handle has been great about not only using the hashtag a lot, but also retweeting usage from others. And speaking of retweeting, Carolina does a good job of strategically retweeting their players as well.
When not tweeting team news, announcements, or promotional content, the Panther’s social team is both relevant and humorous. They really pay attention to what is trending + use it in a way that relates to their team. They also aren’t afraid to poke fun at themselves or their players; they’re a meme machine.
No matter what team you root for on Sunday (or Monday or Thursday), you have to admit that the Panthers’ social team is killing it. They’re informative, they’re bold, + they, like the team, don’t play it safe. It doesn’t hurt that they are currently have the best record in the NFL and just had 10 players picked for the Pro Bowl, #KeepPounding.
